The XVI Annual Conference of the Vietnam Library Consortium on e-resources

 June 28-29, 2018, the XVI Annual Conference of the Vietnam Library Consortium on e-resources took place in Da Nang.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Department of Science and Technology Information is tasked to organize, maintain and develop the Vietnam Library Consortium on Science and Technology sources. Attend a Conference with Dr. Tran Quoc Khanh – Deputy Minister of Science and Technology chaired the conference; Dr. Tran Dac Hien – Director General of the National Department of Science and Technology Information; Dr. Vu Duong Thuy Nga – Director General of Department of Library and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Professor. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc – Deputy Director of Hanoi National University; Dr. Ta Ba Hung – Ministry of Science and Technology and over 160 delegates representing 80 library-information agencies from science and technology departments, universities, colleges, public libraries, specialized libraries and information centers throughout the country.

The Vietnam Library Consortium on e-resources was established in December 2004, in Hanoi. The purpose of the Consortium is to supplement electronic resources for libraries in Vietnam, enhance resource sharing, efficient use of additional funds and gather in an organization to negotiate Database publishers, distributors. The conference is an opportunity for information centers and libraries to share and learn about professional knowledge of libraries as well as to look for opportunities for cooperation and development.

 

 

Besides, the delegates also listened to the Conference on summarizing the activities of the Library Consortium in 2016-2017; work out activities plan and promote additional cooperation and share information among member units in the coming period; discussing the National Project on the development of science and technology sources until 2020, vision 2030; with the following main contents:
– The role of the Consortium in contributing to improving access to Industry 4.0;
– Enhance the efficiency of the Consortium’s scientific and technological electronic resources exploitation and use;
– Identify a mechanism of organization and operation of the Consortium in accordance with the current situation …
